Restaurant Gobi will renew your idea of Georgian cuisine

The Rotermann district near the harbour has a great choice of restaurants. Opening in early 2024 on the site of the former vegetarian restaurant Oasis, the Georgian restaurant Gobi will, if possible, raise the standard of restaurants in the area even higher. With a warm and approachable atmosphere and modern Georgian cuisine, the restaurant is a complete delight.

Exquisitely modern Georgian cuisine in a stunning setting

The name of the restaurant comes from a Georgian round wooden serving dish. Gobi stands for unreserved hospitality and a warm shared dining experience. While the restaurant is true to tradition, Gobi does not repeat the same pattern that Georgian restaurants are accustomed to. Indeed, Gobi has taken a big step from a taverna-style restaurant to a sophisticated fine dining experience.

If you have visited the vegetarian restaurant Oasis, which was previously located in the same space, you might find yourself surprised. The dining room has undergone a complete makeover and now looks very different. The space has been meticulously renovated and offers a beautifully atmospheric setting for an intimate dinner. The spirit of the historic building of the Rotermann quarter is visible. Gobi is a great place for a romantic dinner or even an anniversary celebration.

Delicious flavours and carefully selected wines of Georgian cuisine

Gobi’s menu is made up of root-strong flavours familiar from Georgian cuisine. The dishes are full of surprises, with a modern twist and a touch of the unexpected. The kitchen is led by Luka Khinkiladze, who has worked in several Michelin restaurants and was a member of the Georgian Bocuse D´or Culinary team. Every dish is a culinary masterpiece and the presentation is a real treat.

The wine list consists of excellent Georgian wines, selected by the restaurant’s own sommelier, some even made by him. There is also an amber wine, which is very popular at the moment, with nuances reminiscent of natural wines. So it is definitely worth taking advantage of the wine knowledge of the restaurant staff and asking for recommendations for the dishes.
